Winter Lookbook

I was so excited for this post because Winter fashion is a whole new thing for me. I had never really worn more than a light cardi or maybe a sweater where I lived in India, during the winter seasons. But moving to Australia, and experiencing the winters here, shopping for clothes, putting together outfits, bundling up has contributed to my fashion renaissance, if I can put it that way.

I love walking out of the house in my warm fuzzy coat, with a scarf wrapped around my neck for and those high heeled boots that make me feel so powerful – it’s amusing, I know, but it’s been fun to dress up differently. Being here and experiencing real winters also gave me the opportunity to put together a winter look book for my blog – now, since I have a ton of ideas to share I am going to break this post into 2 parts with 8 outfit ideas to show some of my most worn, most loved looks!

First Look : Suede

Now the one thing that I have started doing a lot, is wearing a lot of black and greys. I don’t know what it is but everyone’s always wearing these colors and I have been sucked into the dark world! This black top from Zara was one of my first purchases, it’s a classic black top, great for work or for dressing up for formal events. I wanted to use this top in a casual way and I paired it with this tan suede skirt I picked up recently from Misguided. I love the skirt, it’s such a stunning piece and attention grabbing and suede’s still quite a big trend – to compliment that I kept the look simple with some black booties and gold earrings.

Second Look : Layering

Now, winter wear is all about the layering, and that’s no surprise to anyone! This second look has been my go to weekend look – I pair my high waisted mom jeans with a plain white tee and throw on the Vero Moda olive green shrug over it during the day time. For shoes, I wanted to keep it neutral and comfortable because there’s a lot of walking involved and these loafers from Forever 21 are both! I also wanted this look to be easily transformed into an evening outfit – so I can switch out my shrug for a warm coat and add a colorful scarf to make it a comfortable evening look!

Third Look : Fuzzy Oversized sweaters

One of the best feelings in the world is the feeling a warm fuzzy sweater gives you! This white sweater from H&M has been my absolute favorite for all the right reasons – it’s warm, oversized and has all the fuzzy feels – it doesn’t get better than that! This look is staple me – put on a sweater, throw on those worn to death blue jeans and add some color in the form of a scarf, in this case a bright leopard print, and to bring it all together with these striking brown boots. It’s very comfortable yet stylish – my favorite look by far!

Fourth Look : Classic LBD

I wanted to include some outfits ideas when you are going out for an event or party during the colder months. I picked up this dress from Jabong’s Alia Bhatt collection right before moving to Australia. It’s your usual black sheath dress with very interesting floral work. The interesting thing about this dress is that it’s a very thick material so it’s absolutely perfect for the winters! I wanted to go for an all-black look with this dress with a nice red lip – very classic 🙂 To add in some color I added my tan colored coat from H&M which keeps the elegance of this look intact. This look is warm yet classic and you are ready for a day out. I wore this look for the Above & Beyond’s Acoustic tour in Sydney which was a black tie event and it fit right in. However, if there was a winner that day, it was music – one of my most memorable days in Sydney so far.
