Today’s post is a work look I could wear almost everyday. I love pencil midi skirts for work, they are so flattering and look good on everyone. And the fun thing is you can wear it in multiple ways – with a button up shirt, a crop top, simple top with a blazer casually thrown on top. It’s a versatile piece and needs to be in every working woman’s wardrobe! Well, not necessarily working – if you buy the right piece, you can wear it to college, on a date, when you are going shopping etc
For this post, I wanted to do a fun corporate look with a little color in it. As I’ve mentioned before, I work for a company in which the dress code is literally “to each his own”. And that’s a growing trend across the globe, except for some professions like in banking or law. To be honest, I love the crisp sheath dresses, the well ironed button ups but given our work culture I hardly get to try it, except at the risk of sticking out like a sore thumb. But every once in a while we’ll have a “Suit Up” day and I would love to wear this outfit to work then.
In this look I’m wearing a beautiful pencil skirt from H&M that was a gift, paired with a casual mustard top. To bring the look together I went for some gold accessories like my Rado watch, delicate gold earrings and an attention grabbing gold ring I bought off Koovs. I finished the look off with some black wedges, because I can’t really walk around in pumps all day, and a formal black bag with a gold sling which I absolutely adore.
I’m loving the fall hues in the pictures in the form of the brownish orange top, the mustard walls. This shade of orange is one of my favorite colors, especially because it looks fabulous on our Indian skin tones. It adds that glow to our faces and fills me with a lot of confidence. It’s a happy color, that’s what it is for me! This fall wear bright colors like mustard, orange, burgundy, mauve and definitely incorporate that in your festive outfits too!
While we all want to look good everyday, don’t forget to be comfortable. If you are not going to feel comfortable in an outfit, don’t wear it! If a pencil skirt is not your cup of tea, try the flared midi skirts. If you can’t walk around in heels all day, wear ballet flats which look cute and are extremely comfortable. Also, don’t wear too many accessories at work that will distract you. Keep it clean, keep it simple!
Hope you enjoyed this post. There’s lots more coming in the next week…stay tuned!
