The Denim Story

Hello!

I’m back after a tiny break. The break that’s usually induced by the changing weather conditions, lasts for about 3-4 days, ensures that you suffer constantly, forces you to consume a lot of green tea, and also gives you a free ticket to annoy everyone in your vicinity by constantly coughing and sometimes sneezing. Maybe a little more than somtimes. Pure torture!

Anyway, moving to the hero for today’s post : the Denim shirt! It’s denim’s birthday month, so I thought it would only be apt to share a few denim looks, albeit with a little twist. The denim on denim trend is all over, so I tried styling the denim shirt in a few different ways. A denim shirt is now quite an essential addition to a modern woman’s wardrobe. It’s classic, comtemporary, versatile, goes with almost anything and can be doubled up into a denim jacket as well! Wear it with skirts, printed pants, over dresses, shorts or just over your regular everyday jeans and you will have a nice, comfortable and trendy look on point. It’s also a perfect foil for accessorizing, and my favorite way would be to add a lot of delicate gold/rose gold jewelry for that nice classy and elegant touch.

Coming to the three looks — For the first, which is a casual, laid-back summer day look, I paired the shirt with my very loved aztec print skirt, added neutral accessories in the form of tan thong sandals, a delicate pair of floral earrings and a peach sling bag and finished the look with a statement pair of mirrored sunglasses! Easy, comfortable and effortlessly stylish. One tip to keep in mind while buying a denim shirt is to make sure they are well-fitted, not too form fitting neither too loose, and invest in good quality as this is a classic and you will keep going back to it over and over.

Coming to the second look, this a look you can wear to a semi-formal day event or maybe even a brunch. For this look, I tucked the denim shirt into the black & white skirt to add a formal touch to the outfit. I then buttoned the shirt right upto the top and added a black & white statement necklace to complement the skirt and pull the whole look together. I kept the rest of the look simple, finishing the look off with black pumps and a pair of classic black cat eye sunglasses. As I was mentioning earlier, denim shirts, like any other basic piece in your wardrobe is a perfect foil for accessorizing. Add in statement necklaces, long layered neckpieces, statement earrings, deicate hand harnesses or even your favorite rose gold watch to take your look a notch up. Remember to have fun and feel good about yourself, always!

Now to the last look, which is my favorite! Here I’m mixing in 2 summer staples – a maxi skirt & a denim shirt, always a winning combination. For this particular look, I took a simple floral maxi and added the denim shirt over it as a jacket to give a casual vibe to the look. I added these beautiful gold earrings and let them stand out by tying my hair into a side ponytail. I also added my loyal gold watch, a delicate floral bracelet and finished the look off with tan sandals. This is such a comfortable, stylish and perfect look for the summers! What I absolutely love about the denim shirts are that they can double up as jackets and are such a versatile piece to add to your wardrobe, You can wear it as a regular shirt, you can wear it as a jacket, you can layer them with flimsy summer camis, you can tie the ends into a knot and wear it as a crop top and well, the options are endless.
