One Kimono, Two Ways

Spring is in full bloom, with pretty flowers cropping up and leaves changing colors everywhere. Such a beautiful time of the year, right? Ever since I started blogging I have started to appreciate the beauty around me a lot more which in turn makes me feel more positive and happy.

Coming to today’s post – it’s about the spring & summer favorite at the moment – the kimono! I recently got one from New Look and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying wearing it everywhere. It’s soft fabric, lightweight material and the colorful floral print makes it a current favorite of mine. That’s actually true for the kimono trend in general. You can find it everywhere right now and there are tons of options to choose from. I’m loving the fringe details. crochet work and lace detailing. As far as prints go, you can choose from florals (which is all the rage right now) to chevron prints to abstract and geometrical prints. The three-fourth sleeve is generally my favorite but you can get full sleeved kimonos as well and also in short, long or asymmetrical lengths. So there you go, there’s something for everyone!Styling kimonos is quite easy too – I think they usually look best with shorts or dresses but you can wear it with jeans too to add a little boho feel to your outfit. One outfit I’m waiting to try out is wearing a fun long kimono with white jeans and a white tank top, trying the white on white trend as well. So wear it to brunch, to the beach, and even to work with a blazer style kimono and beat the summer heat while you are at it.In today’s post I wanted to show two outfit ideas with my brand new kimono. One’s my take on a beach look while the other, in complete contrast, is a work look. For the first one I wanted to go all bright which is why I took my bright fuchsia shorts, added my lace crop top and a layered necklace and finished off the look with the kimono. I love how the many colors in the kimono contrast very well with the shorts. For the second look, I wanted to try something different from the regular. I wanted to make this a work look, so I took a bright tank, added the kimono and tucked both into these beige wide legged pants which are perfect for work and for summers. I added some heels to give these pants more structure and I was ready for work – understated, but still bright. This summer go all out with kimonos, wear it over your shorts, jeans, skirts, dresses or your maxi dresses and share some pictures with us to show us how you styled it :)Until next time!
